Thomas Wales, MSW, LICSW

I have had a private psychotherapy practice for ten years. I also worked as a chemical dependency counselor in both inpatient and outpatient settings for six years. I obtained a masters in Social Work from Augsburg College and further training from the Minnesota Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.

I am licensed by the state of Minnesota as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I am most comfortable working with children who are eight years old and above. I work with whatever issues my clients are struggling with in their lives, often relationships issues, depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. I am experienced in treating adult survivors of childhood abuse. I also specialize in psychotherapy for adult men.

A special feature of my practice involves collaboration with my colleague, Nancy Mulvey, in working with families. One of us will work with a child or adolescent and the other will work with the parents. We can then come together for joint family sessions in order to improve relationships and family functioning.
